Sylvia Plath (with Kyle)

Love, love, our season

For my 24th birthday in January 2024, I asked guests at my dinner party to bring a physical copy of a poem that they loved and thought I should have to keep. Kiki was so kind as to gift me this stunning hand-written version of The Couriers:

Here he is reading one of my personal favorites from Crossing the Water, Mirror:

Mirror - Sylvia Plath

I was lucky enough to borrow Kyle’s copies of Plath’s lesser-read collections Winter Trees, Crossing the Water, and The Colossus last month after I finally finished (the one and only) Ariel and was starving for more of her words.

How wonderful to fall in love with poets that your friends love as well!

It would have been enough to know her, but to share her is beyond delight.

A picture of Sylvia on Kyle’s wall.

Kyle’s favorite Colossus poem (which he, hot take, prefers over Ariel) is Blue Moles:

A thousand thank you’s to my beloved friend and residential Plath expert for letting me record him!

Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did :)

XOXO Gigi
